This is a competition to encourage and recognise high standards of entomological illustration. The Society invites unpublished entries to this competition which will be judged and displayed at the Australian Entomological Society Conference. The competition is open to members and non-members of the Society who are not employed or contracted as professional illustrators for fee or reward. Entries for the ILLUSTRATION competition, up to three per entrant, must be whole body (dorsal or lateral views) taxonomic illustrations of insects or other invertebrates. The mounted illustrations should not exceed 21 x 30cm (approximately A4 size) and must be suitable for reproduction after reduction by 50%. Only entries which meet these requirements will be judged. Entries must be received by 18 September. Postal entries must be carefully packed and include stamps or postal order sufficient to cover the cost of return postage, where necessary. Each entry is to be accompanied by the following information: 1. Name of entrant The Society has made available $100 for First Prize and $50 for Second Prize in each of the four illustration categories and $100, $50 and $25 for First, Second and Third Prizes in the photographic section. Highly commended certificates will also be awarded where appropriate. The judges retain the right not to award all prizes if entry numbers or standards are not sufficient. The Australian Entomological Society shall have the right to display selected works in public and to reproduce the illustrations, with appropriate acknowledgment, on Society goods which it sells, and in magazines, for a fee.
